Geese are scary. How about a mouse instead?

Day 6
Geese?  Really?  What kind of a gift is that?

I think geese are scary and perhaps evil.  That may be because when I was young, I watched a goose attack my younger cousin.  Or, because I've been attacked by a mad goose myself (read about it in Map Girl Gets Lost).  To be exact, my truck was attacked.  I was in the truck though.  If that goose had wanted to it could have ripped through the steel body of my truck and beaten me within an inch of my life with its scary goose wings and pointy beak.  To prove my point, I will provide illustrations.

This is a gang of geese and they may look sort of cute, but that center one doesn't like the looks of you and he can rile up all the other ones with one loud, "HONK!"

This guy is cute.  I'll admit that.

But he's going to grow up, and when you least expect it he'll show up on your doorstep with a look that very clearly says, "I'm going to tear you in half with one wing tied behind my back."

All of that to say, I don't like geese, and I don't suggest you give your loved ones six geese a laying (or doing anything else for that matter).  Instead, I have a different suggestion.

While I enjoy reading an actual paper and ink book, many people read only via electronic devices.  When being honest with myself (and let's face it, that isn't very often), I realize that I do a lot of reading on my computer too.  I keep up with other blogs and online writing journals and emails on the computer.

Sometimes when reading, I want to take a note.  There begins the fruitless scramble for the handy-dandy notepad.  My notepad is always kept in a special place where I can't lose it, which is to say that I have no idea where my notepad is.  But if I had one of these from The Writer's Pond:
Paper Mouse Pads

I'd always know that my notepad is right under my computer mouse, at the ready to take note of all the new books I want to read, agents I want to research, or other stray ideas.  Pretty freakin' awesome gift!  At least it won't threaten your life with its barbaric, "HONK!"

  1. Oh, I WANT one of those! And you are right about geese. I know of a woman who was attacked by a gander (male, for those of you who don't know goose-talk) and he broke her wrist!!!! Not to change villains here, but large male turkeys are very mean....I still have nightmares of when a large tom chased me down the street in Cooperstown, NY when I was very young and there are on a school fieldtrip. I get even every year at Thanksgiving:)
