Sunrise Reveal

So I'm going to do a little bragging here.

I totally know this dude.

And I've totally read SUNRISE.

No, not the version everyone will read when it is released in March, 2014, but an older version that has been properly cannibalized for your reading pleasure -- here comes the bragging -- because I'm in a writing critique group with this dude.

Mike Mullin.

But I'm not only here to brag. I'm here to reveal the cover for SUNRISE, the third book in the ASHFALL series. I've been a fan of the covers of Mike's books for some time (read Cover Story here). And this cover does not disappoint. It actually makes me giddy happy because I know something you don't know! Okay, sorry. That was bragging again.

In SUNRISE:
The Yellowstone supervolcano nearly wiped out the human race. Now, almost a year after the eruption, the survivors seem determined to finish the job. Communities wage war on each other, gangs of cannibals roam the countryside, and what little government survived the eruption has collapsed completely. The ham radio has gone silent. Sickness, cold, and starvation are the survivors' constant companions.

When it becomes apparent that their home is no longer safe and adults are not facing the stark realities, Alex and Darla must create a community that can survive the ongoing disaster, an almost impossible task requiring even more guts and more smarts than ever — and unthinkable sacrifice. If they fail . . . they, their loved ones, and the few remaining survivors will perish.

This epic finale has the heart of Ashfall, the action of Ashen Winter, and a depth all its own, examining questions of responsibility and bravery, civilization and society, illuminated by the story of an unshakable love that transcends a post-apocalyptic world and even life itself.

Mike holds a black belt in Songahm Taekwondo. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife and her three catsAshen Winter is his second novel. His debut, Ashfall, was named one of the top five young adult novels of 2011 by National Public Radio, a Best Teen Book of 2011 by Kirkus Reviews, and a New Voices selection by the American Booksellers Association.

You can keep up with Mike through his author website, on Twitter, Facebook, and Booklikes.

So you don't forget (even though we all know you won't) you can add SUNRISE to your reading lists at Booklikes and Goodreads.

Or just pre-order SUNRISE by Mike Mullin at Amazon. You know you want to . . .

Okay, no more bragging or teasing. Feast your eyes on

I know! Amazing!

For those into survival, here's a chance to win something to increase your chances of having to fight off hordes of cannibals. Since my skills will be gleaned from reading dystopian YA (read Survival of the Yummiest), I doubt I'll make it that far in the new world, which is great for you because it increases your chances of winning (and successfully using) a survival band, courtesy of Books with Bite:

This giveaway is for (2) survival bands.
US ONLY! Giveaway starts Oct 2nd and ends Oct 10th.

  1. I am far from YA, being almost 70, and I cannot wait for Sunrise! The fact that I, too, know Mike, and am, in fact, his aunt, has nothing whatever to do with it. His science is excellent, his characters are real, and his dialog is human - what more could you ask? Oh, a great story? He's got it covered, in spades!

  2. Your bragging rights totally trump mine! We are in complete agreement - Mike's a great storyteller.
